Therapy and supports for activities of daily living

Occupational Therapists specialise at breaking down activities that a person engages in each and every day as part of their "occupational roles".

A child's occupational roles include being a self-maintainer (feeding themselves, managing their hygiene and getting dressed), player, a friend and a student.

We can provide you and your family with supports for your child to achieve independence in these activities. We can also assist with your child's school skills - handwriting, attention, visual perception, fine motor and bilateral integration.

Mealtime Supports

Our team can assess various aspects of feeding, including the oral skills, swallowing, chewing, the sensory and learnt aspects of the environment and task which impacts on meals.

While we have previously provided supports using concepts from the SOS Approach to Feeding, we now follow a more neuro-affirming model of support which places the child at the centre and considers the environmental, neurological, societal and child-based factors at play in a mealtime.

Emotional regulation, sensory supports and interoceptive awareness

Self-regulation is made up of many different components - emotional regulation, sensory processing and understanding your body's internal signals (interoception). We can provide you and your child with many different strategies and programs to assist with their regulation.

We also take into account a child's experience of trauma, and use this to inform our practice.

Fostering self-confidence and self advocacy skills

Our team is passionate about providing therapies that are strengths-based and with goals that are important for the child.

We strive to improve your child's self confidence, help them to authentically be themselves and to give them the skills they need to advocate for themselves in a neurotypical world.

We use programs written by autistic adults that ensures the supports are respectful and safe.

Language development, alternative communication strategies and articulation support

Speech Pathologists can engage with a family to support the child to develop their language and communication skills, as well as provide guidance and training on the use of alternative communication strategies.

Articulation and literacy support can also be accessed through a speech pathologist.

Medicare & Privately Paying

Our services can be purchased privately for a fee. View our price list, or contact our friendly team for a customised quote based on your needs.

Please note we do not offer bulk billing so there will be a gap payable. The gap is the difference between between the cost of our service and the amount that Medicare rebates for each service. Medicare does not pay for travel, so these services are usually offered at our clinic.

To find out what the rebate is for each service, contact Medicare and quote the item number of the service you want to access:

  • Occupational therapy (10958)

  • Speech therapy  (10970)

Health insurance rebates may also apply to some services. Please contact your private health insurer for more information.
